The 64th Grammy Awards have been delayed because of a cross country spike in COVID-19 cases driven by the Omicron variation. The show was booked to happen on January 31, however will be rescheduled for a future date, The Recording Academy and CBS said in a joint assertion on Wednesday.

"After cautious thought and investigation with city and state authorities, wellbeing and security specialists, the craftsman local area and our many accomplices, the Recording Academy and CBS have delayed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show," the assertion said. "The wellbeing and security of those in our music local area, the live crowd, and the many individuals who work resolutely to create our show remains our main concern. Given the vulnerability encompassing the Omicron variation, holding the show on January 31 essentially contains such a large number of dangers."
